Donja Zdenčina is a village in the Zagreb
County, Croatia. The settlement is
administered as a part of Klinča Sela
municipality. According to national census
of 2001, population of the settlement is
966.
Administratively, it is in the municipality
Klinca Sela. The resort is spread over an
area of 29.49 km�. It is 16 km southwest of
Zagreb, between Okić and Coupe. The nearest
inhabited place Ornithological reserve Crna
Mlaka which is situated only 5 km away.
Special ornithological reserve Jastrebarski
lugovi , it is located on the left bank of
the river Okičnice in Zdenčina, in the
immediate vicinity of Crne Mlake.. The
reserve area is 61.18 ha. The forest is a
mixture of oak, ash, elm, maple, alder, etc.
oak, ash and elm trees are an average age of
about 140 years. Due to the depressions in
the landscape, the area retains water for a
long time, so the forest floor is a wetland.
In 1967 the area was proclaimed a special
ornithological reserve, inhabited by the
white-tailed eagle and other rare and
endangered birds of prey.
The population is in one part of the
domicile (about 400 inhabitants), while the
rest of the population is a result of
migration in the 20th century from
surrounding places (Kupinec, Poljanica,
Drezni, �umberak, Beter, Pavučnjak) in
Zdenčina, due to favourable traffic
connections with Zagreb.
The climate in Donja Zdenčina is warm and
temperate. Donja Zdenčina is a city with a
significant rainfall. Even in the driest
month there is a lot of rain. This location
is classified as Cfb by K�ppen and Geiger.
The average annual temperature is 11.1 �C in
Donja Zdenčina. About 1013 mm of
precipitation falls annually.
July is the warmest month of the year. The
temperature in July averages 21.4 �C.
January is the coldest month, with
temperatures averaging 0.3 �C.
